Empowering Generations since 1923:
Welcome to the alumni website of Government Polytechnic, Masabtank, Hyderabad – the oldest polytechnic in the former united Andhra Pradesh State and in the present Telangana State. The institution was established during the erstwhile Nizam Government and has since become a famous technical institution not just in the state but also in the country.
The institution continued to grow and shifted to its current premises in Masabtank in 1961. The campus was spacious, and a hostel building was constructed across the college building. The ground where the present SANKETIKA VIDYA BHAVAN was constructed originally belonged to GPT, Masabtank. The College of Fine Arts and Architecture building was also in the same campus, as it was under the administrative control of the Department of Technical Education.
When Nagarjunasagar Engineering College was established in 1965, it was temporarily accommodated in the buildings of the College of Fine Arts and Architecture, Masabtank. Originally, the Engineering College was supposed to be established near the Nagarjunasagar dam site, but it remained in Hyderabad due to the wonderful climate, culture, and cosmopolitan life of the city.
In October 1972, both Fine Arts and Architecture College and Nagarjunasagar Engg. College became constituent colleges of JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University), Hyderabad, and were later renamed as JNTU Colleges. At the same time, the Government also started two more Engineering Colleges in Kakinada and Anantpur, which functioned under the Department of Technical Education until JNTU was established.
As alumni of Government Polytechnic, Masabtank, Hyderabad, we are proud to be part of this prestigious institution’s rich history and tradition. This website is a platform for all alumni to connect, network, and stay updated on news and events related to our alma mater.
